However, we did enjoy the ambiance and excellent service during our dinner; we also found our meals to be good, but nothing spectacular.

Given that it’s customary to tip between 15-20% in a traditional restaurant, this figure isn’t out of line. For one, they offer different flavors than you’ll find at other restaurants on the ship. When you’re tired of eating a lunch buffet, having the option to have some BBQ or Italian is great. Second, the quality and freshness of the food is the best on the ship. Finally, if you enjoy dining in a quieter atmosphere with fewer people, then specialty restaurants offer that sort of intimacy.

From there, you’ll be cooked up a meal that varies based on what the chef and seasons dictate. For that reason there is no set menu… but you can be sure it will be tasty. As well, specialty restaurants have different flavors and types of food. Whether you want Asian, BBQ, seafood, Italian, or a hearty steak you don’t have to hope the dining room or buffet is serving it. We also tried the entree carbonara, short rib and chicken parmesan - all of these were excellent and the chicken parmesan was HUGE. The exquisite cooking skills of our teppanyaki master was very entertaining! The only downside is you are seated with strangers during the experience and seats are very close.
The affected cruises are all Carnival Journeys sailings, which are longer itineraries that typically attract higher numbers of loyalty program guests. On another day, the printed schedule was missing part four of a four-part show, which did show up on the agenda in the app. One example is the Dr. Seuss-themed Seuss-a-palooza Parade that makes its way through the Currents zone once per sailing. I happened to be sitting at a table in the area when the festivities kicked off.

Our favorite sides were the mac & cheese and mashed potatoes - both were excellent and complemented the meats entrees. We opted next for a creamy Caesar salad and warm, cheesy French onion soup next. I am sure the lobster bisque would also be enticing for seafood lovers. Our dinner started with a very tiny hamburger, which was both adorably cute and delicious.
The video shows the price as $4.25, but the line raised the cost of that size bottle to $4.50 in December 2023, so presumably, the tampering happened sometime before then. Speaking of the bed, it was exceptionally comfortable, and I was excited to find that the TV across from it had a sizable selection of free movies (as well as newer releases for a fee). The TV also allows you to watch select live channels and shipboard programming and to check your onboard bill.
Research shows this restaurant with an $18 surcharge on other Carnival cruise ships, but it’s complimentary on Carnival Celebration. With an all-day menu serving up breakfast, lunch and dinner, we were most intrigued by the breakfast offerings. Emeril’s Bistro 1397 is located in The Gateway zone onboard Carnival Celebration with a designated, cafe-like seating area.
When I received it, the bun was soggy, and no garnishes or sauces were offered until I went back to the counter to ask for coleslaw and tartar sauce, neither of which helped the flavor. Carnival Jubilee has so many places to eat that I ran out of time to try them all on my weeklong sailing. As a sucker for soft-serve ice cream, I was a frequent visitor to the three soft-serve ice cream and frozen yogurt machines on decks 8, 16 and 17. Also on Deck 8 are Coastal Slice and neighboring Beach Buns, which respectively replace the pizza and deli counters found by the pool on most other Carnival ships. Dislikes for me include a shower door that opens toward you instead of into the shower, making the already tiny bathroom even tighter. I also didn't like the "SNOOZIN'" door hangers, which often got caught in my door when I closed it; I would've rathered a "do not disturb" button like many other new ships have.
Carnival Jubilee offers the same ride — the third of its kind on a cruise ship — in the deck 18, 19 and 20 Ultimate Playground area. Guthrie also noted that guests may find some of the same items in the buffet that are served in the main dining room. Sodamin's larger-than-life personality and whimsical "food faces" — funny visages made from plated food — have led him to partnerships with several brands in the Carnival Corporation portfolio. Such partners include Princess Cruises and Holland America Line, whose ships boast seafood eatery Rudi's Sel de Mer.
